Ceramics 1 Supply List
Ceramics 2 Supply List
Welcome to the Ceramics Studio at Ardrey Kell High School.  All assignments, notes, etc. will be on Canvas.

Class Fee:  There is a $25 lab fee to cover clay, and glazes, and other consumable items used throughout the course. Please pay through the online school payment system.  It is important for your fee to be paid so that you can participate in the full spectrum of materials used. If this fee is not paid it will be considered part of the student’s financial obligations at the end of the school year.

Fingernails: A questions I get asked quite a bit.  "Do I need to cut my fingernails short?"
Short nails are not really REQUIRED, but longer nails do tend to get in the way and make things tough. So, as a beginner, I highly recommend having your fingernails trimmed.  Be aware that some of our clay contains grog and can be abrasive enough to wear away the side of a long nail, scratch the surface of nails with a design, or even or thin down the end. You may look at your hands after a throwing session and find that your nails have been “artistically modified” for you.  There are artists that do throw and build with thin gloves, however, long nails usually just rip through them, and the thick ones will not give enough feeling of the clay. You will need to provide your own latex gloves.
